Tubelord, Ever infamous for their crazy live shows and amazing drumming and guitar parts. I’ve been listening to these guys since winter 08′ and by god have they come a long way. At first I thought that they were to be phased out by other bands but they have made it through and they are getting quite the attention in Europe. Unfortunately their record label debut is super polished which usually I don’t mind because it doesn’t take away from the music. But in the case of Tubelord it makes their music sound very forced and slower than normal, im guessing it was done like this for people who insist on clean polished material, especially those who are used to the studio concoctions of the radio. Anyways they dropped their record back in October but I didn’t have a wordpress back then to rant about how amazing this is CD till now. After months of deliberation and constant playing and even drumming along to this album I can safely say that this CD is now my favorite second only to Tubelords “I am Azzerad” Single. Check these guys out, I promise that if you like bands like Colours, Calories, Foals, Johnny Foreigner, Tellison, DARTZ!, Hot Club De Paris, Bloc Party…..Just go fucking buy this CD, Download it, quite frankly I don’t care how you acquire it but listen to it, Very fucking addicting.

By far my favorite song by Okkervil, sadly its a single and I tend to pride my self in loving songs that arent singles. Weird habbit? yep. Anyways video for lost coastlines because I was thinking how kick ass their video is.

Second favorite keyboardcore/mathrock band.

Rx Bandits is a band that I’ve closely followed over the last 6 years  since the leaks of the super band “The Sound Of Animals Fighting” back in 2004 I’ve looked into the archives of their Discography. Anyways they have slowly transformed from a Ska band from Cali to their current incarnation, a Mars Volta Doppelganger. Whatever the case they progress and become ever more proficient and in my opinion improve their sound and songwriting in every new Album. Go check out Mandala, I promise that if your into The Mars Volta, Anthony green, The Sound of Animals Fighting, and any Prog/post/horn driven band you’ll love Rx Bandits.

In my neverending search for new and exciting music I discovered Fang Island two days ago, I’ve been listening to them non Stop on my way to school, downtime, in the morning…..you get the idea. Anyways 5 piece band from Brooklyn signed to the ever famous Sargent house also home to a few other artists that I love (Good ol’ War, Tera Melos, Native, this town needs guns, Maps and atlases) These guys make some of the best summery keyboard rock that I have ever found. Think if Motion City sound track fused with the guitar tones of older Say Anything and they had a threesome with Los Campesinos and then drank with the drummer of The Anniversary you would Get Fang Island . Anyways I love them and I think you should check them out. Definitively check out their song welcome wagon easily my favorite. Stagekids, a five man army of pure San Diego Math rock that can rub elbows with the top contenders in the Math Rock scene.  Very proficient for what seems  like a group of 17-21 year old, they remind me of old school TOE and I can hear what seems like a faint Tera Melos in there but that could be me. All I know is that I wish that these guys get a break because this talent cannot go to waste! Now interesting tid bit about this song, K-os samples the Phantom Planet song California in this and…..MY GOD what an improvement! Phantom Planet dissapointed me with their newer stuff. So that brings me to their best song (in my opinion) Big Brat.

Deerhoof! I love these guys, the Japanese babble usually is a turn off but the drumming, keys and guitar is what really makes this band. Plus their cooky-ness and semi obscurity makes them perfect for hipsters sippin on Blue ribbon at an outdoor festival like Bonaroo.

The ever amazing Billy Talent. These guys have really changed the game and what punk should sound like (at least in my opinion) Their energy onstage and off and on their records is amazing. Im glad that canada has these guys in their arsenal of musicianship.
